Canada's Premier Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Ski Club

 

Just like the Olympic Motto "Citius, Altius, Fortius", the Altius Nordic Ski Club strives for its athletes to be "Faster, Higher, Stronger".

The Nordic Ski Hoppers program is geared towards “FUN and FUNDAMENTALS”. Participants are exposed to a broad range of sports and activities and cross training, including each of the Nordic disciplines. A supportive and positive environment is provided for all participants, with an emphasis on participation.

The Altius focus highlights overall physical development, enhances healthy lifestyles and leadership abilities in each participant. It also provides the base and introduces an opportunity for long-term athlete development in the sports of Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined skiing.

Ski Hoppers Multi-Sport Program 

The Ski Hoppers Program is the entry level “Fun and Fundamentals”, year-round program for young athletes ages 8 -15. The program’s focus is on overall fitness and fun, while learning to Ski Jump and Cross Country Ski. Fun multi-disciplined endurance and strength-building team activities are included to keep your child active and engaged include hiking, swimming, mountain biking, climbing, running, skateboarding, soccer, rollerskating/rollerblading, parkour, tennis, active team games, and Cross Country and Alpine ski trips. The program runs year round, including an 8 week Summer Day Camp. Ski jumping equipment is provided as part of the program cost.  

This multi-sport program highlights overall physical development, enhances healthy lifestyles and leadership abilities in each participant. It also provides the base and introduces an opportunity for Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) in the 2 Olympic Sports of Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined skiing.

Age Group: 8-15 years old

  • Prerequisite: Desire for active living and skiing / jumping on skis interest to take part in various multi-activities (see an extended list of ~20 below).
  • The desire to learn and take part in multi-sport activities (see below).
  • Commitment: Two to four hours, three times each week (Spring, Fall, & Winter). One to Six weeks summer session (your choice).

All of our coaches are Level 1-3 certified members of the NCCP (National Coaches Certification Program)

Goals 

  • To give great opportunities for athletes and officials of Ski Jumping & Nordic Combined to participate and learn.
  • To help athletes achieve peak performance through training and healthy lifestyles.
  • To encourage youth to carry on Olympic Ideals.

*Fees include ski jumping equipment, day-long out of town hiking or cross country ski trips, entries to various Calgary training facilities and coaching throughout the duration of the session. Multi-day trips (2-3 optional trips per year) are extra, charged at cost.

Parents are welcomed and encouraged to take part.


WINTER SESSION

Ski Jumping, Cross-Country Skiing, Alpine Skiing, Skating, Climbing, Swimming, Climbing, Gym games and training (cold weather dependent), Ski Trips (Cross Country and Downhill) and more! 

2021-2022 Winter Session 18 Weeks, Up to 3 Days Per Week

Tuesday & Thursday 6:30 – 8:00 PM & Saturday minimum 4 hours

With potential Trips to Golden, BC (Alpine Ski Day at Kicking Horse Ski Resort and Huckleberry Loppet) & Whistler/Squamish, BC (to partner with Sea to Sky Nordics Club) 

Dates: November 23, 2021 - March 26, 2022*  

Cost: $1300 Full-time, $900 Part-time (2 weekday sessions or 1 Saturday session per week)*

SPRING SESSION

Mountain Biking, Disc Golf, Orienteering, RollerSkiing/Blading, Hiking, Running, Skateboarding, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, active games and more! 

2022 Spring Session 8 Weeks, Up to 3 days Per Week

Tuesday & Thursday 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm    Saturday minimum 4 hours

Dates: 2022 TBA

Cost: $495 Full-time, $325 Part-time (2 weekday sessions or 1 Saturday session per week)

SPRING SESSION including Strength Training for 10yrs +

In addition to all the fun activities noted above, this option includes Strength Training with former National Team Member, Ski Jumper & Nordic Combined Athlete, Rogan Reid.
 “Ski Jumping is a sport that requires speed, skill, endurance and flexibility. It should also be engaging & fun for young athletes. Developing an athletic base that combines these traits will   help young athletes achieve their maximum potential." 

In order to maximize athletic improvements and ensure the “fun factor”, athletes will be trained in groups of 3. Each group will have 1 hour long weekly training session with Rogan 

2021 Spring Session 8 Weeks, Up to 4 days Per Week

Tuesday & Thursday 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm, weekly Strength Training, Saturday minimum 4 hours

Dates: 2022 Dates TBA

Cost: $595 Full-time, $475 Part-time (2 weekday sessions or 1 Saturday session per week with 1 weekly Strength Training session)

Training sessions will take place at Evolve Strength Sunridge. Participants require a membership to Evolve Strength; to be paid separately to Evolve Strength.

SUMMER DAY CAMP

 

Ski Jumping, RollerSkiing,  Mountain Biking, Disc Golf, Skateboarding, Orienteering, Hiking, Running, Tennis, Beach Volleyball, Soccer, Active games and more.

2021 Summer Day Camp Session Full Day Weekly Camps

Times: Monday – Friday format, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Early drop off / late pickup option is available)

Dates: July 5 - August 27, 2021

Cost: 

Weekly Camps are $275 per week, or $1,050 for any combination of 4 weeks and/or the entire Summer.  You will be required to register for each individual week. If you don't know which weeks you will be attending, please register week to week, and the platform will discount the Registration to reflect the $1050 once you achieve the 4 week minimum purchase, even if you have 4 separate transactions.

FALL SESSION
